Comic #1016 - Able and the extra mile

Show me a random comic!
Fact: The bottom layers of the ice in ice caps could be up to two million years old.

12/29/08 - Lookin' good for the new year!

Hope everyone had a happy Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Boxing Day.

I'm a huge fan of Quincy's neatly parted hair. In case you didn't know, folks needed a lot of hairspray in the 80s to keep the bangs rocking.

12/23/08 - Christmas comes early!

That's two comics in a row! We're starting off the week right :)

12/19/08 - Can't leave you hangin' on a Friday...

Yes, I know the updates have been spotty at best and this gives you the grumps. I promise we'll be back to normal soon...

12/8/08 - Tis the season

The site was down at the end of the last week. Please don't blame yourself! PLEASE.

If you are interested in giving your loved ones Able and Baker merch, order it now so I can get it to you in time for Christmas.

All shirts are only $15 which is way less the lame gift you were gonna get at the mall...

11/26/08 - Happy holidays and regretful apologies!

I'm off to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. Hopefully it won't be too friggin' cold. Once again I apologize for the lack of updates lately and I appreciate your continued support, Constant Reader.

Look for a comic on Tuesday! It will be there, I promise!

11/20/08 - Oh faithful readers!

In case your were wondering, that's three comics in a row! Very soon, we'll be back to 5 a week again. You can cheer me on by emailing links to your friends/enemies and telling them to read THIS AWESOME INTERWEB COMIC.

It's a good thing Quincy is wearing a hat for the first snow. Especially since he has no pants.

11/18/08 - Vegas, baby. Vegas.

Here is a comic for you! What have I been up to lately, you ask? Well I just got back from Vegas. I was at UFC 91 which was AWESOME. Nothin gets it done like people punching each other in the face!

11/13/08 - Wooo-ha to you!

Hey that's 3 comics so far this week! If I get a Friday one done I'm back up to respectable status.

How are you guys doing out there? Still reading even though I've been updating less?

11/3/08 - Monday comic!

Alright! We are looking good! Will I get back on track this week? WILL I?

10/29/08 - A comic! Because I care!

Also for your amusement, I give you this and this.

10/27/08 - Bare with me folks!

My schedule is a little nuts right now which is why I've only been kicking out a few comics a week. It will be better soon!

10/22/08 - Never trust a hypnotist.

Two comics in a row! We are doing good! I plan to finish out the week strong. How are you guys doing?

10/14/08 - There's a comic for you!

Now we are rocking! I think I am back on track?

Since it's getting chilly and a lot of people have bugged me about it, I'm going to hook up some A&B hoodies and/or track jackets for you soon. I promise Nanners will be involved in at least one of the designs.

10/9/08 - What the fuck is going on?

I promise I'll have a comic for you on Friday. Seriously! I also hope to be back on a better schedule next week.

10/3/08 - Weekend! I welcome you!

I do apologize about the lack of updates lately. Work is kicking my ass right now. I do however invite all of you to buy enough shirts to allow me to quit my day job :)

10/1/08 - I left the door open and October came in.

Dear September, thanks for mother-effing me. I had such great plans but you were in and out like a sailor on shore leave.

In other news, gamble dancing is where you bet on a breakdancer who does head spins on a piece of cardboard with roulette numbers on it.

9/29/08 - Hi. I'm Jim and I like to party.

Kerry from New Zealand sent me a pic of a homemade stuffed Nanners! Oh man this is 200% awesome!

Nannerific!

NAN!!

9/25/08 - Been slacking this week.

My screwed up sleep/work schedule has taken it's toll. I will have a comic for you on Friday though. PROMISE!

9/24/08 - 1,000 comics!

So there ya go! Looking back at my files I've been doing Able and Baker since early 2004. Insane, I say!

Thank you to everyone out there who reads and supports the comic. It still blows my mind when I get emails from all over the world and send out shirts to so many countries I want to visit. I'm really honored to be a small part of your crazy lives :)

A big shout out to all of the other Dayfree Press cartoonists - you guys rock!

9/23/08 - Oh crap! The anticipation is killing me!

I was going to draw comic #1,000 but unforeseen forces of nature, 3 FBI agents, 2 warrants and a homeless porcupine thwarted my efforts.

We'll take care of that daunting 1,000th comic tomorrow. I PROMISE.

DAUNTING

9/22/08 - Let's run it!

Alright, you know the drill. It's Monday so it's time to settle down from your weekend shenans and get back to serious business.

Do we have a Nanners cameo in the comic today?

Shenannergans?

9/19/08 - Make responsible decisions this weekend

During the week I'm optimistic about your behavior, dear Reader. You come here every day and I feel that I can steer you in the right direction with the sage advice Able and Baker provides. But the weekend! Oh no! You're gone! You're loose! You're wild!

I can only hope you return on Monday a better, wiser person instead of a hollow shell traumatized by the results of your careless actions.

Anyway, if you need me I'll be at a small hotel in the bad part of town snorting coke off a stripper's back.

Also I'll leave you with this Will Ferrell gem.

9/18/08 - Back to business, y'all

In case you missed it, yesterday was Ryan Estrada day. I think he ended up doing 70 different guest strips for various webcomics yesterday which is pretty amazing. You can see the one he did for A&B here. Also he is posting all of the guest strips on his site.

So here's what I'm thinking for the new Able and Baker site:

  • Bigger comics (according to my stats you guys all have decent resolutions)
  • Comments tied to individual comics
  • Links to the past 5 comics
  • Comics searchable by tags and (possibly) content
  • A daily Quincyism
  • 37% more AWESOME

I'm hoping to make good on at least some of those promises. If I make good on ALL of them everyone HAS to buy a t-shirt :)

9/16/08 - Running joke...

Quincy and Able have covered this ground before.

So I'm working on a new version of the site that should be AWESOME. Gimme a little time on that...

9/15/08 - Hello, third week in September!

I'm getting dangerously close to that 1,000 comics mark which is kinda crazy. Have I been doing this that long?

I've been thinking of making a pidgepop shirt. Anyone interested in that? I personally want one so maybe I'll just do a small limited run...

9/12/08 - That wraps 'er up...

I was going to extend this storyline with another startling fact found in Quincy's file, but we'll save that for a later date.

What are you guys up to this weekend? Got some sweet plans? Just be careful. I worry about you.

9/10/08 - Frankenfriends!

Not nearly as cool as Frankenhooker.

The desert of lonely mistakes is different than the dessert of lonely mistakes - but only barely.

Alright, time for me to drink enough beers so I pass out early enough to get adequate sleep so I can wake up and go skateboarding before work tomorrow. And yes, you heard me correctly.

9/5/08 - Able and Baker = scathing social commentary

Able and Baker also strongly oppose partisan politics. Hey everybody! Have a good weekend. And if your name is Valerie try not to get too wasted your first weekend of college :)

9/4/08 - Personal day

I was going to reveal a startling fact about Quincy that would change the world's perception of time and space. Unfortunately, some stuff came up.

I had to see someone about a pony. You understand. Be back tomorrow.

9/3/08 - G-Pigs and P-Dogs.

Just for the record, Prairie Dogs are violently condescending.

I got a little behind on t-shirt orders, but they should all be shipped out by today. So if you ordered a shirt it's on its way! If you did not order one YOU SHOULD. They're still only $15 and you get a Ghost of Jambox Past button and an Aargvark button for free.

Why in the world would Able submit a new animal species to the Journal of Medicine?

The answer may surprise you.

9/2/08 - 2 cup minimum.

Baker doesn't tackle philosophical questions until he's had at least two cups of coffee.

It's cool to see so many folks using the comments thing above. I wanna hook it up so each comic has its specific comments saved with it. I believe I could do this Comic Press but it takes time to do that shit.

If only time was like water and I could just turn a knob to get more. Then again it would probably still slip through my fingers. Plus I live in the desert, making this a poorly thought out metaphor at best.

9/1/08 - Out for labor day! Be back on Tues.

Yeah! I get today off of work, which is awful nice. Gives me a chance to nurse this hangover...

8/28/08 - Go ahead! Comment!

Okay to underscore today's comic you can totally post your own comment. But seriously, try not to be a dick about it. Also I haven't really tested this much so I'm not sure how the various browsers will handle it. Consider it a test for ableandbaker.net 2.0 which I want to launch when I hit comic #1,000.

Also, how is everybody's week going? Oh? That bad? ME TOO.

8/20/08 - Wrap it up.

Alright, that wraps up that storyline. I think there was some laughter and maybe a few tears. The important thing is that we all learned something: if you have a party, everyone would probably have more fun if they smoked.

Hey! Keep in mind that t-shirts are only $15 right now! Also you get a free 1-inch aargvark or jambox button with every purchase (most of the time I throw in a couple). The awesome thing about these shirts is that when I'm wearing one, random strangers always come up to me and ask me what the hell they mean. If you like random strangers get one!

8/18/08 - Smoke up, Johnny.

Sorry for missing updates last week. I had shenanigans involving an accidental license suspension, the police and vehicle impoundment. LAME.

Whenever I see Quincy up there on Able's head I always imagine he crawled up there like Yoda climbing Chewbacca. Quincy isn't in the last panel because he ran off to get the booze, balloons and strippers.

8/11/08 - Cash Bear!

Contestants on Cash Bear 5,000 are locked in a glass room with a hungry bear and bunch of cash. Also you're covered in honey. 5,000 is the new 2,000 by the way.

8/8/08 - Weekend! RUN IT.

What's wrong with a bear eating ice cream in a pile of cash? I call that progressive thinking.

Make sure you have some beer this weekend or your time off WILL BE WASTED. Ha! Wasted! Oh dear.

8/6/08 - Hello!

Oh man. I gotta get up early tomorrow to go skateboarding. How do I survive on so little sleep?

Quick reminder: all t-shirts are only $15 right now and come with free 1 inch buttons. THIS IS AWESOME!

8/4/08 - Had to duck out of town...

I was in St. Louis for the weekend and just got back. A&B returns tomorrow (Tuesday). YES!

7/28/08 - Your source for snack-related comics

If you need comics about snacks, snacking or snack related activities (snacktivities) you came to the right friggin' place. Gorge on my morsels!

That last sentence makes me pretty darn uncomfortable. Unfortunately, once something has been published on the internet, you can't change it.

7/28/08 - Be back tomorrow!

Until then catch up on some of my Dayfree homies.

7/25/08 - Baker's drinking soda in the last panel.

When you slide down the banister of bad decisions you land in a big pile a caffeinated sugar. I need to make up a list of the best Quincy-isms, by the way.

It's the weekend! You know what to do. Just make sure you clean up afterwards.

7/24/08 - Last time Quincy pulled an artery.

Go to the archives and do a search for the word "snack." You may be surprised. OR NOT.

7/14/08 - Summer sale! All shirts $15 plus a free button!

Try going to the mall and getting a nice screen printed shirt for that price. C'mon! For each shirt you get, I'll throw in a 1 inch Aargvark or Jambox button too. Check out all the shirt designs and sizes in the merch section.

The most awesome shirts of ALL TIME.

I'll also throw in 960 free comics you can read online! OH MAN.

7/11/08 - They were supposed to be heading for the bathroom...

Okay. So there it is. The week is over. What did you guys accomplish? You guys do the work, I entertain you on your lunch break. That's pretty much how it works, right?

Have a good weekend and don't get into more trouble than you can handle.

7/10/08 - Quincy can't see or reach the volume.

In a strange and ironic twist of fate they are watching Pump up the Volume followed by See No Evil, Hear No Evil.

What else?

Cyclobot 300 makes you efficient.

Wigu pees on his side?

7/7/08 - Okay. Let's run it.

Sorry for the lack of updates last week. Lots of hijinks plus I got Friday off for the 4th of July weekend celebration extravaganza party.

Hey if you're on Facebook you need to join the Able and Baker group and invite EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

7/2/08 - Be back on thurs.

I have a long lost friend in town this week. This means drinking, reminiscing and shenanigans.

6/30/08 - 5 days left until the weekend!

If you don't know what's going on in today's comic, then you must have missed Friday's comic. Or you read Friday's comic and have a short memory. Or you read Friday's comic and then hit your head over the weekend triggering short term amnesia.

6/27/08 - Here's what makes today's comic funny...

...Quincy knows what a frozen pigeon tastes like. Chew on that this weekend.

6/26/08 - A&B returns on Friday

Also you can now get to the site by typing ableandbaker.net into your internet website browser software package. This makes it much easier to tell your friends where you got your awesome shirt.

By the way if you need some good comic reading, you should know that Wigu is back. YES.

6/18/08 - What's up y'all?

How are we doing this week? I am swamped with work from my day job. LAME.

If you're a lady who is interested in summer fashions, my sister says you should read her blog right now. Also keep in mind the small and medium jambox shirts make girls look extra saucy.

6/13/08 - Friday, bitches!

I must say disasterisk is one of Able's better words.

It was brought to my attention that I didn't update the merch page with all of the available Aargvark sizes. They are there now! Since it's Friday and you've worked hard all week, you should treat yourself! Buy a Ghost of Jambox Past* t-shirt!

*Seriously. Do it.

6/9/08 - Jambox shirts on sale!

Alright! My Vegas vacay is over and I survived! To award your patience, The Ghost of Jambox Past t-shirt is now on sale!

That's right, bitches. Jambox is back from the graaaaaave.

I also restocked the Aargvark shirts, so if a size wasn't available before it is now!

6/2/08 - A&B returns next Monday

Everyone deserves a little vacay every now and then. I will be spending mine in Vegas this week. Woo!

And when I get back, the Jambox shirts should be done and up for sale. Double woo!

5/29/08 - Milkshakes heal hurt feelings

Grieflets sound like delicious little chocolates that make you violently fat.

Did you know that Wigu is back? I love it! Also I can't get enough of Randall's Ghost and We the Robots.

5/27/08 - Back on!

Hope everyone had a good memorial day weekend (if you're in the states). For everyone else - hope you had a good standard non-holiday weekend :)

Look! you can do an interrobang in HTML:

WTF‽

I'll have to check and see if that worked in Internet Explorer when I get to work. But none of you guys use THAT browser do you?!

5/26/08 - On vacay! Be back Tuesday.

I'm taking memorial day off, but the comic will be up Tuesday. Woo!

5/20/08 - Take it up a notch.

Alright! The jambox shirts are now in the printer's hands. Hopefully I'll have 'em up for sale in couple weeks.

5/15/08 - I need more time!

I'm considering petitioning my city counsel member person to add more time to days in Arizona. Until that goes through, there are days (like today) where I run out of time and cannot complete a comic.

The good news is that I will have the jambox shirts printed up soon (see below) and I'm restocking the Aargvark ones too!

5/11/08 - Beware the JAMBOX!

I got a a big response to the Ghost of Jambox Past so I hooked it up! I have to get these pigs printed up, so they'll be in the store in a few weeks.

That's right, bitches. Jambox is back from the graaaaaave.

5/8/08 - Strong foundation of flavor

This is why Quincy battles with muffin top.

Hey! My friend John made a shirt that you are REQUIRED to buy if you are a basketball fan.

5/5/08 - I like to party.

The Ghost of Jambox Past also plays C&C Music Factory almost 24/7. I also decided to draw the Ghost of Jambox Past and I am strongly considering turning it into the most awesome shirt ever made.

5/2/08 - Grammar!

Missed a few comics this week cause I had some house guests. I always do my best to come through for you on Fridays though. ALWAYS.

Have a good weekend, all.

4/25/08 - There you go!

That's a good solid Friday comic for you. Though I'm not sure what's going on with Able's powdered wig fetish.

Also I have decided that I want a Red Panda more than anything.

4/21/08 - I shall entertain you this week!

...mostly by drawing comics. Also I scour the interwebs to find awesomeness like Randall's Ghost. It's drawn in chalk made from the powdered bones of baby seals!

4/18/08 - Done for the week!

Well there you go. I'm done for the week and now I get to kick it.

Has Quincy been watching Flash Dance?

4/15/08 - Preesh = I appreciate it.

Able strives for economy of speech. I wonder how Harold is preparing for the bout with Quincy?

Sorry if you weren't able to get to the site on Monday. I was having a server ish (short for issue, of course).

4/7/08 - Where have a I been?

That, my friends, is largely classified. I do however apologize for the lack of updates last week. Let's not let that happen again.

3/27/08 - If happiness was a Wookiee I'd be on Kashyyyk.

Some of you may not even know how Quincy become the self-appointed lab psychiatrist. Here's how.

3/26/08 - Oh man! A comic!

There we go. Everything is right with the world. After 900 comics I deserve a little break now and then.

Oh and mad props to my buddy Jeremy who threw out Able's last comment in a meeting at my day job :)

3/24/08 - Okay - back on Tuesday for sure

I have had some shenanigans going on the last handful of days - sorry for the lack of updates.

3/20/08 - A&B returns on friday

Time is a slippery slope on the hill of remorse. On top of that, I seem to be wearing snow skis.

I totally wanna make a new shirt out of the comic above and call it "want vs need". That'd be sweet if it was a monster truck (want) about to run over a Penny Farthing (need) on a green shirt (greed). The shirt itself will be sweat shop made, further pushing the envelope of irony into the mailbox of fashion.

3/19/08 - Oh happy day!

'Sup peeps? For the record, there's nothing wrong with singing telegrams.

3/13/08 - I made 900 comics while you weren't looking.

Wooo! As always, thanks to everyone out there who reads the comic and tells their friends about it. And thanks to the friends who got told.

If you are new to the comic you can catch up in the archives :)

3/10/08 - Luck o' the monkey

Wait a minute. Didn't something like this happen before? And what do they test on them?

3/5/08 - Strong bones and stomach problems

That's my prediction for Able. Also I HAD to put this pic up (courtesy of the Lolcats).

He's using an old Jedi mind trick, you weak minded fool!

3/3/08 - A&B returns on Tuesday.

Until then, get yo' comic fix with my Dayfree homies (holmies?).

2/28/08 - I'm not afraid to run it 'till the wheels come off.

Here's a picture of the world's largest pinata in case you're wondering.

Hey, I found a new comic that is awesome called We the Robots. 300% AWESOME.

2/25/08 - Imagimacation needed

I screwed up and accidentally deleted all of my blog posts so the page looks a little empty here. In case you didn't know I DID finally post a comic on Friday after the technical difficulties were ironed out.

2/22/08 - Sorry for the technical difficulties...

We're back up and rolling now. Ghoaster!

2/18/08 - Monday! Let's be friends.

Monday and I have been fighting for years. It's getting Garfieldian.

I created a sweet icon for those of you who have an iPhone or iPod Touch and add Able and Baker to your home screen. If this isn't the single most compelling reason to purchase one, I don't know what is.

2/14/08 - Sip it up.

Happy Valentine's Day, all!

In case you don't know, this is a sippy cup.

2/13/08 - That's cold, Able .

At least they set Cameron out by the pool when he went catatonic.

2/7/08 - How low can you go?

Limbo dancers set the bar low. Get it? Get it?

Yes! And no.

2/4/08 - Quincy loves that ticket.

Seriously - he's all about it.

I was out at the Phoenix Open this weekend and let me tell you - it was a big friggin' party. A ton of people were in town for the Super Bowl and it felt like I was in Happy Gilmore. Mostly because I drank a lot. Wooooo! Spring break '08! Wooo!

Woo?

2/1/08 - A full week o' comics!

It's been awhile since I've hooked up a full week of comics for you! Let's keep this train rolling. February also marks the 4 year anniversary of Able and Baker . Wooo! I'm also getting closer to the oh-so-elusive 1,000 comic mark. Woa!

1/28/08 - Healed!

Damn, dude. That cold knocked my ass out for a week. But now we're back for you. And by WE I mean ME. And by YOU I mean EWE.

1/24/08 - Oh man I feel awful.

Whatever flu bug I picked up IS NOT FUCKING COOL. But to entertain yourself, head over to my sister's blog and read her latest entry. WARNING: May cause cameltoe.

1/23/08 - I am jacked up on cold medicine.

If I take anymore I'm going to start seeing sasquatches.
